What Are the Benefits of Implants?
If you have one or more missing teeth, Dr. Burns will likely recommend dental implants for the following reasons:

  • They are permanent and don't normally require replacement in the future.
  • Dental implants give you peace of mind when you're eating, speaking and smiling around other people.
  • It functions and looks just like a natural tooth.
  • They don't affect adjacent teeth and they help maintain the proper positioning of the teeth.

How Long Do Dental Implants Normally Last?
Your implants will last for as long as you care for them. Some patients have their implants for 20 or more years. You must make brushing, flossing and visiting the dentist for checkups a priority. The biggest threat to your dental implant is gum disease, which could cause the replacement tooth to loosen if it's not treated promptly. Keep in mind that the crown part of the implant may need to be restored after five to 15 years.
