IMPORTANT MESSAGE TO ALL OUR PATIENTS
Dear Valued Patient,
For years Dr. John M. Burns has loved being your dental provider. Unfortunately, we regret to inform you that on April 19, 2020 he passed away.
Dr. Burns loved having personal connections with all his patients. We know that his primary focus regarding his patient community would be for you to continue receiving his exceptional level of care.
As you are aware the office has been open on an emergency basis due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. With the help of local dentists, we will continue to offer emergency care in our office. Once the current restrictions are lifted and we are confident in the safety of our patients, we plan to offer expanded services as safety and conditions allow.
Our family is currently working on a full transition plan and assure you our goal is to minimize any impact on you.
During this initial period Dr. Robert Geary will be leading our emergency services. Please find below a little bit about Dr. Geary as well as his contact information:
Dr. Geary grew up in Hull, MA, and looks forward to being able to help his local community through this trying time. He graduated from Tufts University School of Dental Medicine and then completed a 1 year General Practice Residency at the University of Vermont. Where he focused on advanced restorative techniques; managing hospital and trauma calls related to dento-aleveolar emergencies; had exposure and training on full mouth rehabilitation; operating room dentistry; special needs dentistry; endodontics and exodontia.
Dr Geary looks forward to being able to use his training to help our patients and the local community. He is grateful to be trusted with you care at this difficult time
We will update you as we finalize details of the full transition. Thank you.
The Burns Family and Dr. Robert Geary

A Message From The Office of John Burns, DDS
To our loyal patients,
We understand how tough times have been recently, especially with the passing of Dr. Burns, and wanted to assure you we are doing everything we can to get the office opened back up. While we want to open up as soon as possible, we also want to ensure the safest possible environment for everyone. We wanted to go over some of the things the Burns Family and Dr. Geary have been doing to get the office ready:
· Procured necessary N95s masks, clinical gowns and eyewear in accordance with COVID-19 guidelines. Supplies are naturally constrained at this time but we are working on sourcing more.
· Installing sneeze guards in the near future to ensure heightened security for patients and staff
· Training scheduled for our staff regarding new CDC and OSHA guidelines and adherence to current PPE and disinfection protocols
· Ensuring complete disinfection of all operatory and high touch surfaces
· Moving to a more staggered schedule to allow for increased social distancing
When you see us next, we may have more of a “Storm Trooper” look, but rest assured the same caring faces and personalities are underneath!
In addition we have removed all magazines and reading materials from the office and have spaced out the waiting room for social distancing, but at this time and for the foreseeable future will be implementing curbside check-in for patients. If you are scheduled for an appointment, please call when you are parked, we will then have you come in and fill out the necessary paperwork and undergo a temperature check. If you are ill or feel ill, please reschedule for both your safety and ours. If you have been exposed to COVID or suspected COVID patients please reschedule your appointment. If you become symptomatic after your appointment within 14 days, please let us know immediately.
We are still available for your emergent needs, and with Phase I beginning we will also be seeing patients with “near emergent” needs at our discretion.
Robert Geary, DMD and The Burns Family

Phase 2 Reopening Update
It is with much anticipation and excitement that we wanted to inform you we will be opening for Phase 2. The governor’s guidelines allow us to begin to see you for more than just urgent and emergent needs and we wanted to let you all know that you still have a dental home. As of Phase 2 reopening we can begin, at the doctor’s discretion, to schedule elective procedures as well as hygiene in certain situations. As we have been working tirelessly to get ready for this opening, we wanted to let you know some of the new changes implemented and protocols at the office.
For patients with appointments:
· Please arrive 10 minutes prior to appointment and call the office to check in. At this time, our front desk staff will be asking a series of pre-screening questions prior to entry.
· After the pre-screening, please wait in your vehicle until we call you to come in, we are doing this in an attempt to maintain social distancing protocols.
· A temperature will be taken at the office door before you enter with an infrared thermometer.
· All patients and companions must wear masks that cover nose and mouth (homemade ones are acceptable).
· Please only bring a companion to the office if it is absolutely necessary.
We have placed significant efforts into securing PPE and have gone above mandated guidelines by additionally purchasing HEPA filters for each room, and operatory. In addition the office staff will be screened each day prior to entering the office and will have their temperatures taken at the start and end of each work day.
We also wanted to take the time to briefly introduce you to the two doctors who will be seeing patients during Phase 2. Dr. Robert Geary, who has been covering our emergency calls and Dr. Teresa Huynh, both Hull locals.
Dr. Geary has been grateful and humbled by the response from the local community and their resilience through the pandemic. He is beyond excited to be able to provide Phase 2 care to patients and hopes he will be able to continue on beyond Phase 2 to see patients.
Dr. Huynh is excited to join the team and be able to offer her services to the local community. Dr. Huynh and Dr. Geary are colleagues who look forward to providing a team approach to patient care, with similar philosophies and outlook on treatment. They are both looking forward to meeting all of the patients during Phase 2 opening and hopefully beyond!
We look forward to seeing you all soon, and be expecting a call from our office!
Robert Geary, DMD, Teresa Huynh DMD, and the Burns Family
